Tutorial/Button Exchange

Totally Tutorials is being a match maker between us and creative, crafty folks out there who are willing to put together a free tutorial using our products (we hope that will be some of you!)

We are going to be giving away up to 15 sets of our button cards to 15 crafty followers anywhere in the world. We will pay for the shipping of our buttons to you.

In exchange we are asking that you put together a unique tutorial...it can be anything from sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting...glueing them onto...attaching them to...we'll leave the method up to you...we then ask that we can use your tutorial here to showcase our buttons.

Now the really fun part - you get to choose any set of buttons that your heart desires - take a look at our website www.buttonmad.com and choose the set you love the best from our catalogue.

You have from today until Saturday 22 September to choose which set of buttons you would love to receive and then to leave a short comment here telling us which set of buttons and what you have in mind for them.

We will be choosing 15 crafters depending on how much we love the idea you come up with. If you want to knit something special for a grandchild, sew up an apron embellished with buttons, create a set of fun scrap booking pages, glue buttons onto a picture frame...any idea, however simple, as long as it incorporates our hand painted buttons & a tutorial will qualify.

There are some requirements so please read the fine print over at Totally Tutorials

The most important requirements are:
1. that you are willing to create a tutorial using our buttons,
2. that you give us permission to post your tutorial and pictures here on our blog and on the Totally Tutorials blog,
3. that you will post your free tutorial on your own blog listing our buttons and linking back to us as the source of your Incomparable buttons (if you don't have a blog, see Totally Tutorials for options on where to post),
4. that your tutorial will be free for other users to create something to sell,
5. that your tutorial will be ready by the end of October 2012.

If you don't know how to create a tutorial take a look at the links here.
Remember to take a great photo of your finished item - it will be posted here and at Totally Tutorials.

Thanks so much to Kym from Totally Tutorials/Fabric Fascination for hosting this exchange.

We can't wait to hear what you have in mind for our Incomparable buttons!

  1. Being a "Vaalie" myself, I would love to make something homey. I adore your assortment of buttons and had a hard time choosing a set :-D
The set I finally settled on is L253 or L259 to embellish a bag that I plan to decorate "African Style".
I look forward to this challenge and would like to thank you in advance for this wonderful opportunity.

    1. Thanks giddy99. You don't need to have your own blog - we can post the tutorial on ours and you can post it to one of the sites mentioned over at totally tutorials if you have any ideas in mind

  4. I think L526 is really cute :) I love making earrings from buttons and they often get complimented when I wear them. I'd be grateful to be given the opportunity to make some from your gorgeous cupcake earrings and would be happy to show others how I make them :)

  5. I am a mixed media artist and would love the opportunity to use your buttons in an art quilt I would like to make. Card #363 is a perfect color match for the art quilt I have in mind, which will include some of my hand dyed fabric and may even include a bit of paper similar to the buttons. I see this as a fun opportunity to show others, both paper and quilting artists, what I can make with your beautiful buttons.

  6. Oh, there are so many lovely buttons to choose from! It's hard to pick one. But I'd love L248 for a door plaque, with my son's name, which I'm planning to make for his room.

I was also thinking it would be nice if you have some more variety for girls', such as butterflies in pink & purple, dresses, & purses.

    Thank you
    Sana

  7. L536 heart buttons would look nice to dress up hats I have been making. I could sew one to each hat and show how just a button can really take a utilitarian item and dress it up. I blog at http://www.intheboondocks.blogspot.com

  8. How could I resist L441! I could see these attached to decorated clothes pins with magnets to put on the refrigerator as note holders. If they are too large, L165 also go with my kitchen and would look sweet, too!

  9. Oh how can I choose one set?! Your buttons are gorgeous. :0) I love L363 and would use them on a vintage-style scrapbook page, or I'd make a gift set of moving home cards using L211. I guess if I MUST choose one it'd better be L211.

  10. I love all of these beautiful buttons!
I'm so excited to tell you about my idea: I thought of it almost instantly when I saw the gorgeous little bird buttons (L546):

The colors of the little birdies made me think of a rustic fall wedding, so I want to make a birdcage wedding favor tutorial. I would cut a section of wine cork for the bottom of the cage, then use toothpick sections for the bars and an acorn lid for the top of the cage with one of your birdie buttons glued inside!

Thanks for hosting this project! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

  11. Hi my name is Laura and am very interested in participating in the tutorial exchange. I enjoy creating crafty useful things as well as pretty fun things to give to friends and family. I am primarily a quilter but love all things to make with fabric and wood! I would like to make a wall hanging quilt with the buttons embellishing it and as a smaller companion hoop art quilt with the button being the focal point. I also would love to order some additional buttons from you as I could not fully pick a favorite but was inspired by several and have a few projects in the works that I could use them on. but for this tutorial I am torn between L43 and L74.

  12. What a thrilling challenge! I'd love to use L536 for a mixed media decoupage project to create a Christmas gift for someone close to me. So, I've got a tea box on mind to be decorated with 3d ornaments that would incorporate those beautifully designed hearts (I love the colour scheme btw), plus a paper collage complementing the buttons. Lots of distressing with liquid bitumen, ink pads, rub ons and acrylic, finished off with a top coat of a glossy decoupage varnish by Maimeri.

  13. Oh it was so difficult to narrow the choices and the projects down to one. My final decision is that I'd like to make and share a bracelet and earring set from button card L375. Thanks for the opportunity to use and feature your buttons!

  15. Hello, I have a project or actually 2 projects in mind for the L457 (heart and Cute as a button buttons). Maps are big right now in blogland and I would like to put up a world map with one heart showing where I live (Greece) and one heart for where my parents are (America). I would use the buttons for a scrapbook about my daughter, so you could get 2 tutorials for 1.
