Heart Bunting Cake Topper…and a Cup Cake

The paper heart bunting from my previous post has come in handy over the past few days…and as fast as I make a new string I find another use for it.

I used it as a stencil for dusting icing sugar onto this passion fruit curd roll cake I baked.

And now I've hooked it up as a nifty and pretty cake topper.

Simply take your paper heart chain and attach it to the ends of two tooth picks

I glued two mini Incomparable pastel heart buttons mid way down the tooth picks for an extra dash of cuteness.

If you'd like the recipe for the vanilla cupcakes filled with passion fruit curd…look no further:

Turn the oven to 180ºC.
You'll need:
125g butter,
1 C sugar,
2 eggs,
1 C flour,
1 t baking powder,
1/2 C milk,
1 t vanilla,

Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and beat well.
Mix in the sifted flour and baking powder.
Add the milk and vanilla. Beat well until creamy.
Pour into individual cupcake liners sitting in a muffin pan.
Pop into the oven for 20 minutes.
Makes 12.

Once cool, use a teaspoon to scoop out a little piece of cake and fill it with the passion fruit curd. Pop the piece of cake back on top. Dust with icing sugar, position your festive heart cake topper and share the love…
