Chicken in the Kitchen

Yesterday I posted a preview picture of our in-the-pipeline range of fabric incorporating our Incomparable chicken buttons.

We are busy making a variety of products using this fabric from tea cosies, aprons, tea towels, napkins and placemats to table runners and table cloths as part of our new Incomparable 'chicken in the kitchen'© range.

The tea cosy has a removable inner which will make for easy cleaning.

I love the hand embroidered message...

and of course, adore the Incomparable chicken buttons.

With such a fun set, its definitely time to set the table for tea.

Put your feet up and enjoy a cuppa.

Tea time just became my new favourite part of the day.

DIY Clothes Hanger Transformation

If you've been reading this blog for a while now, you might remember the wardrobe makeover post from December 2011.
The stylish and chic clothes hanger above was made using the pages from old books.

We happen to have loads and loads a fair amount of ribbon and lace in the studio and needed pretty hangers for a clothes photo shoot. Jen came up with this clever quick and simple way to create the perfect photo shoot prop. But then we loved them so much that we had to have a shoot with the hangers on their own!

To create your own beautiful hangers, assemble the various items you'll need.
The hanger,
glue gun,
ribbon,
lace,
bows,
buttons,
decorative heart pendants.

Put a dollop of glue at the one end and wind your ribbon around it, securing it to the hanger.
Wind the ribbon around and around the length of the wood. You can dot glue at various intervals in order to secure the ribbon.
Do the same with a coordinating lace around the handle of the hanger.

Tie your bow and glue or knot it into place.

As a finishing touch, tie on a gorgeous Incomparable heart pendant and the transformation is complete.

New Buttons

Jen has been busy again creating new buttons.

There are 24 new cards of buttons now available on the ButtonMad site

It is always super exciting to see the new designs that come out of the oven for the first time and then being able to play with various colour combinations and sizes.

My favourite of this new batch is hard to narrow down but one of the ones I love the most is this gorgeous one that looks like a shell...here it is on this knitted elly...as his b-elly button!

Next week we'll have a give away of one of our latest designs.
In the meantime, browse the new buttons on the catalogue and dream a little about Incomparable buttons this weekend.

It's a Dog's Life - Dog Pillow Template

Last week mum made a cute little pooch as a travel pillow for Kate when she's in her car seat.

Of course the minute Em and Luke set eyes on him, they had to have one each.

Luke chose the same blue colours as the original.

While Em went for a slightly strange combination of blue and pink fabrics and chose large yellow Incomparable daisy buttons for the eyes.

We had a long weekend here and with the sun shining, it was time to bring out the teepee and have some fun with the dog pillows on the lawn.

Real dogs were invited too of course!

Bailey definitely thinks he is one of the gang!

I think he could do with his own neck pillow...

Here is the template if you want to make your own.

Cut it to the size you would like plus a little extra for a seam allowance.
Sew on your eye buttons.
Sew right sides together around the dog, leaving a gap for turning.

You could add a label if you like.

Turn right side out, stuff and then hand stitch closed.

Give to a grandchild and then before any fighting ensues, make more for all the others.

Luke's has a collar with an Incomparable bone button sewn on - too cute.
